Soap Names

Before we came up with a final name for our Soap it was important that we researched into the orgins of exisiting Soap names and what they meant and how they were thought of. To create a Soap that would be affective and would attract the desired audience we want we needed to gain a clear understanding of how the names draw in their audience and remain catchy and appropriate to the particular Soap.

As we found in our Soap name origin research we found that most Soap's names are infact the names of places where the Soap is set and where the idea of the communal, friendly and joined neighbourhood comes from. Through process of elimination we decided the final name for our Soap. Although this wasnt an easy decision due to the fact we were having to think of a name that was original yet catchy and modern. In the end we came to the decision of the name 'The Cross'. There are many reasons as to why we chose this one, as there are also many reasons why why we considered but didnt choose some of our other options. Some of our other options for names included 'Ashley Cross', 'The Square' and 'Isabel's Restaurant'.

Our decision for choosing ' The Cross' in the end came down to many different reasons. For example in Ashley Cross there is a church (St.Peters). Therefore this church could be represented as a social meeting point and a central part of a small villages community. In Soaps such as Emmerdale and
